This year’s SAFE Alliance Gala celebrated a monumental milestone: 50 years of dedication to stopping abuse for everyone by serving the survivors of child abuse, sexual assault and exploitation, and domestic violence. SAFE Gala guests entered the J.W. Marriott Ballroom and found themselves transported inside a world of enchantment. Beautiful butterflies of all kinds bedecked a greenery filled ballroom, culminating in a 12 ft tall balloon butterfly, representing the rebirth of abuse survivors. Beside the giant butterfly was a shiny new BMW, generously donated by Mercedes-Benz of Austin, for the lucky raffle prize winner. The keynote speech was given by Angel Carrol, who spoke about her story of survival, and Ebony Stewart performed a moving poem. What followed was a party to be remembered. Guests played classic casino games, drank from Tito’s ice luges, and dusted off their dancing shoes to the lively music of The Matchmaker Band.
